The 2024/25 Barclays WSL season kicked off last month and it has been an exciting start to the campaign.
Manchester City right now they are first in the standings after three games, however Manchester United i Chelsea they have played one game less due to a postponement. Four teams sit with just one point at the bottom of the table, including Everton and West Ham United.
There were also some big results, most notably Chelsea’s 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace, while Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur secured comfortable 4-0 victories over their respective opponents.

After a disappointing fifth place finish last season, it has been a positive start to Marc Skinner’s new Manchester United campaign. While bigger tests are sure to come, six points from their first two games is exactly what was needed.
In the first game at Old Trafford, they secured a 3-0 win at Old Trafford, with Grace Clinton and Leah Galton among the goals. Their game against Everton a week later was a much tighter affair, but one goal proved to be the difference as they secured another crucial win.
Skinner hopes his side can maintain that level of consistency as they prepare for some tough games against Tottenham, Brighton and Arsenal.
As for the start of the season, things couldn’t have gone much better for new Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor. His side was narrow Victory by 1-0 against Aston Villa in their first game, and they defended with resistance to pick up the result.
Against Crystal Palace on matchday two, the reigning WSL champions scored seven without reply at Selhurst Park. Chelsea have already put up a score, but there are still big challenges ahead for Arsenal.
The surprise of the season so far has undoubtedly been Brighton. They managed a win against Everton in their first game, and were only beaten by Manchester City at the end of September.
New managers in the WSL often undergo an adjustment period and it takes time to implement new tactics and a style of play. But the Seagulls haven’t looked like a team in transition in their opening games.
This is a credit to Dario Vidosic and his ability to quickly settle into the WSL. Strong recruitment in the summer will have helped, but the results so far have been good.
