Terence Crawford is currently looking big, possibly in the 180s, because on September 13 for his mega money fight against the United Super Middleweight Champion Canelo Alvarez Bull. Israil Madrimov posted a video clip of him who met on social media with Crawford, and the size difference between them is surprising.
Slowpoke now
Crawford is now bigger than Canelo. At this pace, he is perhaps big enough to move up to 175 to go on with the four belts of the Artur Betterbersiv against Dmitri Biblical battle. Crawford may have to go through David Banavidez to get a shot at the winner, but maybe not.
If Turki Alalshikh wants to smooth things for Terence by getting him a straight shot without having to work for it, he can do it. He helped Crawford with Canelo to get him a title. If Crawford had to work for the title shot by going through Osleys Iglesias, Diego Pacheco and Christian Mbilli, he would probably fail over and over again.
Last August, former WBA junior middleweight champion Madrimov was bigger than Crawford (41-0, 31 COs) in their los Angeles fight. But since then, Crawford seems to have a good 20+ pound and it looks bigger than some of the super -middle weights in the division. Of course, it’s just size. It does not necessarily translate into increased power.
Crawford’s fight against ‘Little GGG’ Madrimov showed that his power did not carry him from 147 to 154. He was the weaker fighter and took a lot of punishment out of the right hands, which he ate all night from Madrimov.
Crawford, who packs all the weight, can come back to haunt him when he comes to the ring with Canelo, because it will slow him down and put him in the fire line. He probably won’t rehydrate after 193 pounds as Edregr Berlanga did. So, taking the big blows of Canelo will not be easy for an old man at 38 who has been fighting only once a year since 2020.
