Tony Harrison returns from a two-year discharge against Edward Ulloa Diaz in a 10-round middleweight fight this Saturday, July 26, in the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
The WBC junior middleweight champion ‘Super Bad’ Harrison (29-4-1, 21 COs) wants to start his career again at 160 and follow a fast world title in this barren division.
Tony Harrison returns
Harrison-Diaz will fight on the bottom map of Claressa Shields against Lani Daniels. The event will be displayed directly on Dazn from 18:00 ET.
Harrison, 34, last fought on March 12, 2023, when he was knocked out by Tim Tszyu in the ninth round. He was competitive in that battle, but Tszyu’s power was finally too much for him. It was not the exhausted Tszyu we saw since last year. He still had a chin when he fought against Harrison and rose to his power.
Harrison’s opponent, super-middleweight Edward Ulloa Diaz (15-6, 12 COs), lost three of his last five battles. He did not look good and lost to Jonathan Gonzalez Organ, Jimmy ‘Kilrain’ Kelly and Roberto Garcia.
160 pound title hunting
“I never do it for fun. When I come in again. I’m passionate about it. I love it. The goal is to see if I can get back up and win it again, ‘Tony Harrison told Fighting type about him coming back to a two -year dismissal. “
Harrison will have to be strategic with the opponent’s choice. The champions in the division are solid, and it will be difficult for him to beat one of them.
“I’ve been away for two years. I never try to chase it, ‘says Harrison. “Raising it would be money. Chasing it would be the wrong word. I definitely don’t chase it. I take it battle. Consistency is my thing. I want to be consistent for as long as possible. Do it as fast as I can, fast as I can, and come as fast as I can .:
Harrison is about to turn 35 in September. He can’t afford to take his time if he wants to give himself his best chance to capture a belt. He must rediscover the form he had in 2018 when he beat Jermell Charlo.
Middleweight section Shakeup
“I move to 160. I move to the middleweight. The section 154, I say goodbye to it,” says Harrison. “It’s even more open (160). I think that’s the perfect timing. I want to get up. I am about 20 years at 154. I think this is the perfect time to move up.
“I think it’s the perfect time to get back into a section where nothing is going on. There is no energy. There is no spark. There is no charisma. There is no character. This is the perfect time to come in.
‘Struggling? I didn’t make the weight. I didn’t want to do that, ‘Harrison said when asked if he was struggling to make 154.
