The soon-to-be 36-year-old former WBA and WBC light welterweight champion Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) is widely believed to have his career on the line. He lost his last fight in December by a wide margin against what should have been a beatable foe and looked equally poor in his fight before that in June 2023.
A loss to Catterall would reinforce the view of many that he is not a world class fighter, but simply a domestic level fighter with a smart style and no punching power. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has high hopes for Catterall, but he may have to face the reality that he is not quite at the top level if he is beaten by Prograis in the main event today.
