Tszyu faces undefeated Nurja in the main event of a PBC Championship boxing card in Australia, marking his second outing with trainer Pedro Diaz as he looks to move back into world title contention.
“The word destruction is in my head and has been on repeat in my head for the last seven weeks,” Tszyu said during fight week. “That’s all I want to do. My whole purpose right now is just to destroy.”
The Australian also made it clear that just winning is not enough, stressing that how he wins is just as important as he continues his rebuild.
“I have to win,” Tszyu said. “And the victory comes from the way I want to do it.”
Acknowledging the risks that come with every fight, Tszyu pointed to both career and physical danger as part of the reality he accepts every time he steps into the ring.
“Everything is at risk. Your whole career,” Tszyu said. “The biggest risk is not only losing, but your health. You are always one shot away, so I prepare strongly every time, because I know what lies ahead.”
Nurja, who starts the match undefeated and ranked inside the top-15, kept his focus on the immediate task at hand and dismissed any talk of future plans for Tszyu.
“I understand these thoughts, but he still has to go through me before he thinks about Errol Spence Jr.,” Nurja said. “It is no easy task.”
The battle titles a Prime Video card from the WIN Entertainment Center, with Tszyu aiming to deliver the type of performance he believes will cement his position in the division.
