Tim Bradley thinks a Canelo loss to Crawford would be more harmful than a defeat against benavidez

Tim Bradley says Terence Crawford is a ‘tougher’ battle for Canelo Alvarez if he were to fight David Benavidez. He says that Canelo losing against the smaller fighter, Crawford, who arrives two weight classes, makes him look bad.

The Crawford versus benavidez risk

There will be less setback for Canelo being beaten by the light heavyweight benavidez because he is bigger than him. Alvarez would not receive the same kind of criticism as he would if Crawford (41-0, 31 COs) knocked him.

It is just obvious that Canelo’s career would be more damaged by a loss of Crawford than to Benavidez, due to the size, advanced age and poor performance in his last struggle.

Canelo (63-2-2, 39 food) defends its undisputed super-middleweight championships against Canelo on Saturday, September 13, at Netflix at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

‘I believe this struggle is more difficult in his career than benavidez. Although Crawford is considered the best fighters in the world and has received a lot of praise over the years, if he lost to a guy who came up and beat him two weight classes, what will it look like? ” Tim Bradley says on his channelCreating a narrative that Canelo Alvarez loses more to be beaten by Terence Crawford than he would do if he lost to David Banavidez.

Bradley says Crawford takes a risk with this struggle to prove itself as #1 in the world. He believes that through Bud who defeated Canelo, it would make him the best. The argument is full of holes for obvious reasons.

There are probably younger, better fighters than Canelo at this point in his career who will stay there that Crawford will have to beat him to prove that he is the true number 1. Just beating the 35-year-old Alvarez would not be enough because he is late in his 20-year career. Crawford chose a battle against Canelo after he began to show signs of slipping, not before, when he was in his best years.

Crawford’s true pound-by-pound test

In my opinion, Crawford will have to beat these guys to be considered #1 in the world:

  • Dmitri BIVOL
  • David benavidez
  • Jaron Ennis
  • Vergil Ortiz jr.
  • Janibek Alikhakhanuly
  • Artur Betterbiev
  • Christian Milli
  • David Morrell

If Crawford can’t beat the fighters, he doesn’t belong to the pound of 1 pound. These are the right tests for him, and if he does not want to fight against them, it is an automatic forfeit. You do not deserve to be #1 because you have avoided the risk.

Bradley points out that it is rare to have battles with top fighters from different weight classes meeting. The reason why there is not much is that the smaller fighters have problems if they make great weight jump. In history, the rare cases where it has been done successfully have smaller fighters who are deficiently larger or have won controversial decisions.

For example, then Roy Jones jr. From 175 to heavyweight moving, he chooses the worst link, John Ruiz, to fight for a world title on March 1, 2023 rather than Lennox Lewis.
