Tigers reveal Gleyber Torres’ plan

The Detroit Tigers finished second in the American League Central at 86-76, good enough for a wild-cart spot in the playoffs.

Not only did the Tigers advance to the postseason for the first time since 2014, but they swept the Houston Astros in the wild-card series after the Astros had made seven American League Championship appearances.

The Tigers have proven their young team is talented enough to compete with the best teams, and they are making moves this offseason to further improve their roster.

After signing starting pitcher Alex Cobb earlier in the season, the Tigers took another step by signing infielder Gleyber Torres.

The addition of Torres will reportedly result in some changes to Detroit’s lineup this season.

“Tigers GM Scott Harris said Gleyber Torres will be the Tigers’ everyday second baseman and that Colt Keith will move to first base,” wrote FOX Sports: MLB at X .

Torres played the first six seasons of his MLB career for the Yankees and has recently emerged as their leadoff hitter.

In 2024, he played 154 games and hit .257 with 15 home runs, 63 RBI and a .709 OPS.

Keeping Torres at second base would allow him to play his most popular position.

The Tigers have proven they can make the postseason, and now they will try to win their first AL Central title since 2014.

With the addition of Torres and Cobb, the Tigers will have a better chance to win a division that has three playoff teams set for 2024.
