This week, we watch the first match and season of TGL Woods’ TGL SIMULATOR League and discuss what to do the league to succeed.
Cultida Woods, mother in 15 times the great champion Tiger Woods, died on Tuesday morningTiger announced on social media. “She was my biggest fan, the biggest supporter, without any of my personal achievements would not be possible,” Woods wrote. How did the influence of Tida Tiger Tiger, Golfer helped?
Jack Harsh, editor of associate equipment (@jr_hirshey): I don’t think you can oversee TIDA’s influence on Tiger, especially when you consider all its Red’s Sunday tradition came from it. When Tiger was a young man, she would stroll with her as she practiced and maintained his result and added shots when he would throw clubs or curse. It is difficult to argue that he did not contribute to making him the last competitor.
Josh Schrock, writer (@schrock_and_awe): While Tiger’s father, Earl Woods, often appeared as the biggest influence of the 15-year-old winner, there is no doubt that TIDA was the real strength behind Tiger’s monumental career. Tida was always there whenever Tiger competed, including his first two matches TGL, and put the killer instinct that defined it. Tida once told Sports Illustrated in 2000: “I said, ‘Go after them, kill them. When you’re done, it’s sporty now. Before that, go for that throat. Don’t let your opponent get up.’ ‘” The things that did Tiger Tiger came from Tida.
Zephyr Melton, Assistant Editor (@zephyrmelton): My associates covered it beautifully up. After all, only Tiger can say for sure how his mother thought, but it is safe to say that she played an important role in his formation in what she is today. Let it rest in peace.
Do you have a specific TIDA/Tiger moment that distinguishes you?
Hirah: I’m sorry, but it’s not positive. The appearance of disappointment on Tida’s face while praying for the Tiger 2010 press conference after the scandal of his infidelity is a look I will never forget.
Schrock: Very sentimental from Jack. Two moments stay me. The first is when Tiger won the masters of 2019. The first person he hugs to get out of the green is his son Charlie, and the other is Tida. She was there in 2019, as was when he won in 1997. “It’t’s amazing. It’s 22 years old. Life goes on,” Woods said for that moment. “There’s a continuity: my mother was there. I said : ‘We did it.
The second moment came a week before she passed as she sat at Sophie Center and looked at Jupiter’s Woods’ Jupiter Links team playing Rory McIllroy’s Boston Common Golf. It was Tida sitting and watched her son compete in a simulator league he built, smiling while Woods promised to “not suck” as he did in his first match TGL. Regardless of the scene or shares, she was always there for Tiger.
Melton: Gotta is the scene after Tiger won his latest green jacket at Masters 2019. Seeing Tiger interacting with his family-and especially TIDA-After this victory was a moment that causes a goose.
Talking about tiger, He is again in action this weekWaiting for and playing the Invitational Genesis in Torrey Pines. What do you expect from Tiger this week, and how does the change in the country (from Riviera to Torrey) affect his chances?
Hirah: Well, looking 30,000 meters, the movement in Torrey is great for him, given that he has won eight times in Torrey and zero times in Riviera. That being said, the forecast for La Jolla next week is not good, and for a 49-year-old with a melted ankle and as back operations 18462753, high levels in the 1950s, and rain is not a good recipe. I do not expect to see the POP of the ball 181 km per hour we saw in his last tgl match that happened inside Palm Beach. I would be surprised if he made the cut.
Schrock: I agree with Jack. Woods has a great history in Torrey, but its form over the past five years, coupled with foot and back operations and weak cold weather, gives us no reason to believe that it will claim in its origin. A cut made and four full rounds is as much as we can hope for, but I would like to go wrong.
Melton: The transition to Torrey is great in terms of past tiger results in the country, but not so good when considering the weather. While Tiger is old, he has fought more and more with fresh weather environments, and Torrey promises to be him. He can make the cut, but everything beyond that (say, a 25 ball) would be a surprise to me.
PGA commissioner Jay Monahan and the director of player/player Adam Scott visited President Donald Trump at the White House last week, and Tiger Woods reportedly played Golf with the president on Sunday. “We asked the President to be involved (in PIF negotiations) for the good of the game, the good of the country and for all the places involved,” the statement, signed by Monahan, Scott and Woods, read. “We are grateful that his leadership has brought us to a final agreement, paving the way for the reunification of the professional golf of men.” Is all this a strong indication that a resolution is near?
Hirah: I don’t think it’s a surprise that after Trump got the task, things in PIF investment in PGA Tour have started moving again. Most expect the Trump administration to take a much softer regulatory approach to antitrust than the Biden administration. I wouldn’t be surprised when I saw the deal finally pass before the end of 2025. Whether this is a good thing or not, I’m still not completely sure, but I think everyone is in agreement that We should see Bryson Dechambeau, Jon Rahm, etc. Play Rory Mcilroy, Scottie Scheffler, etc. More often than four times a year.
Schrock: It depends on how you define “near”. Things certainly look better for joining the Trump administration that oversees it than the Biden administrator. Plus, given Trump’s love for golf, there is no doubt that he would like to get credit to help unify the game. But we still do not know what that resolution will look like, how everything is gathered, and the time limit for it after all T -shirts and they are painted. Things are moving, but I’m still afraid we’re not close to bring them all together, which the game desperately needs.
Melton: Who knows the hell? At this point, I will not believe that the game is back together until I see it with my eyes. We have had many statements and reports in recent years that things are near, but so far, there have been very few substances to tell about it.
Announced USA will add exceptions from Liv Golf In the US Open, the first time a leading championship organization has created a path specifically for Liv players. Do you like the logistics of this? And do you see the next diplomas below?
Hirah: I think I agree with the methods here because it takes into account the lack of Liv’s depth by making sure it’s just a Top-3 player in Liv who enters the open. This would greatly help a boy like Jaco Niemann. I am a little surprised that USA is not offering more than 10 exceptions in the final qualification because while I don’t think liv has all that deep of a talent pool, I think a large majority of them are good enough they want ‘must play in local qualification. I think other degrees will approve similar ways to liv players.
Schrock: When looking at the exclusion details (Top-3 player), it is not a seismic acceptance of LIV as a competitive tour that is on the same level as its other competitors. But it gives key players like Joaquin Niemann and Atell Hatton a path, and that’s good for the game. I like how you got usa and I would expect R&A to chase the lawsuit with a similar exception. America’s PGA seems to feel good about its ability to distribute exceptions to players it considers worthy, so I’m not sure they will change their criteria. Wild card is Augusta National. Will masters open a specific exception of Livi or continue to invite the players they consider worthy of their discretion without giving them a label?
Melton: I like because it gives fans a better chance to see some of the defenders who were otherwise not excluded. I would expect similar exceptions from other diplomas in the coming months. We hope to calm the point of speaking that diplomats do not have the best players on the field without liv players.
