TaylorMade Golf
In what has become one annual traditionTaylorMade has one more time assembled their best tour staff to add a little holiday comedy to our Christmas week.
And this year, instead of a Christmas card, TaylorMade has used several Christmas cards, each modeled after some of the most beloved Christmas movies.
Rory McIlroy, Charley Hull and Collin Morikawa at Hole In One
First up, we have Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa and Charley Hull recreating the iconic movie poster for the classic Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister. It’s a little hard to get behind Rory as the new Kevin given the light shade and salt-and-pepper hair he’s also sported, but Rory has been “her” golf guy for a while now, so it’s a quite a natural fit otherwise.
The casting of Charley Hull as Joe Pesci’s Harry might actually be spot on given the colorful role she has taken on this year on the LPGA. However, Collin Morikawa as his co-worker, Marv, doesn’t really fit the bill. Morikawa doesn’t seem like someone who would steal from anyone, let alone a little boy left home from his family’s vacation … unless it was Rory.
Tiger Woods on TaylorMade Golf’s Tiger’s Vacation
Tiger Woods playing Clark W. “Sparky” Griswold Jr.’s Chevy Chase. on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was a good fit for the costume. Note the subtle nod to Tiger’s new Sun Day Red brand, which is part of the TaylorMade portfolio, with its new Santa hat logo. I wonder how many of these they could sell if it was available?
Tommy Fleetwood in “Drive Hard”
We can’t tell you for sure that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, but TaylorMade is here to make it clear that Drive Hard is.
If there’s anyone who can muster the charisma of Bruce Willis, it’s Tommy Fleetwood. It’s hard to imagine anyone else on the TaylorMade staff in a dirty tank top and pretending that a 5-iron was a weapon. Fleetwood exudes more international secret agent than New York City police detective, but it’s close enough to make it work.
Scottie Scheffler in “The Scottie Clause”
End the year as the undisputed #1 player in the world take Tiger Woods off like Jolly ol’ St. Nick. But we recommend that Scottie ditch the milk and cookies if he’s going to defend his title at Augusta National next year.
Nelly Korda in ‘Nelly’
Like Will Ferrell’s Buddy Hobbs rising among Santa’s elves in “Elf,” Nelly Korda rose among the rest of the LPGA as she put together one of the finest seasons by an American player this millennium, winning seven times.
It also fits as Nelly’s 5-foot-10 frame also sees her looking over the rest of her competition.
Brooke Henderson in “A Canadian Story”
As the winningest Canadian golfer of all time, Brooke Henderson is worthy of her own independent film. It would be easy to guess that its version of a Red Ryder Carbine Action BB gun would add to its two main titles from 2016 and 2022.
