Tiger Woods, when he saw John Daly, apparently did not forget. However, this time, the invitations were reversed.
The first time? For this, we must refer an article published by this site in 2016. Its headline was wonderfully: “That time John Daly asked Tiger Woods for a beer.”
Below is the text of the story:
When it comes to training, Tiger Woods and John Daly may have different approaches you call them.
IN an interview for the Golf ChannelDaly recalled a time in 2004 at the Target World Challenge when he was enjoying some grown-up drinks after Wednesday night. Daly was with some friends and was at the club drinking and telling stories when Woods entered the room.
“Tiger’s over there in his workout clothes, and I said, Tiger, come have a beer with us, man,” Daly said.
Woods told Daly he couldn’t do it because he was headed to the gym, but Daly didn’t back down.
“I go, man, you don’t need to train,” Daly said. “You should have a drink with us.”
Woods’ answer may not be what you expect.
“(Woods) said, ‘If I had your talent, I’d do the same thing you’re doing,'” Daly said. “I’m looking at him thinking, ‘You’re crazy, man.'”
With that setup, we go to Friday and PNC Championshipthe (mostly) friendly pro-relative scrimmage event that closes out the golf year. Forests15 times major winner and teenage son Charlie are playing; Daliatwo-time major winner and son of college golfer John Daly II are playing; and they saw each other at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., the moment of capture by the PNC Championship social media team.
