Whenever Tiger Woods makes his long-awaited return for professional golf, he will do so with a new golf ball.
Bridgestone Golf announced its new 2026 Tour B golf ball lineup on Tuesday, featuring a new VeloSurge core coating integration technology that testing showed gave players 2 mph more ball speed and nearly 9 extra yards of distance.
“I’m always looking for more pop, and this new ball absolutely delivers,” Woods said in a press release. “I have trusted Bridgestone for over 25 yearsand it takes performance to a whole new level.”

What’s really new with the 2026 Bridgestone Tour B — and why you should care
The new Tour B series was developed by the VS Proto Project (short for VeloSurge), which identified the new base material and began testing it with amateurs and Bridgestone staff professionals.
According to the company, VeloSurge provides a “seamless synergy” between mantle and core. The mantle layer is also denser, which increases the MOI of golf balls, promoting faster ball speeds.
“It took a lot of work to develop VeloSurge Technology and the new TOUR B family of golf balls,” Bridgestone president Dan Murphy said in a release. “The results speak for themselves, and I’m confident that this is arguably the most advanced iteration of the TOUR B golf ball we’ve ever produced. Anyone who becomes proficient with the new TOUR B will immediately see the difference in ball speed, distance, accuracy and consistency.”
During testing of the VS prototype, which included Jason Day and Chris Gotterup, as well as amateur players, testers of all speeds experienced an average increase in ball speed of 2.3 mph, which equates to 8.7 yards of distance.
Chris Gotterup’s season-opening win at the Sony Open came with a new prototype @bridgestonegolf ball.
Gotterup was sporting the VS Proto Black, which is the prototype version of the new 2026 Tour BX, which will be unveiled on Tuesday.
