Thomas Frank has admitted that taking the Manchester United job “probably won’t improve his life” amid recent links.
The Brentford manager has been heavily linked with a replacement for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford unitedThe start to the 2024/25 season is surprisingly poor.
However, Ten Hag enjoyed a break over the weekend beating Frank’s Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford, despite heading into half-time for a controversial goal.
Speaking in an interview a The Sports Agents Podcast, Frank was asked about the possibility of taking over a major club like Manchester United and how it would affect him.
“For sure if I ever get an offer to go to a big club and decide to go there, it probably wouldn’t improve my life,” said the Danish coach.
“I think we all know that. Maybe it’s a challenge you have to try. I don’t know. It’s not something I’m thinking about. I’ve sacrificed a lot in my life to get to where I am now. In terms of sacrificing- me, I missed my children’s birthdays for five years in a row because I was with the national team.
“I’ve been working 60, 70 hours a week for the last 30 years. I’ve sacrificed a lot. You don’t know what it would be like if you walked into another job.”
Along with Frank, former England manager Gareth Southgate and the club’s assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy have also been linked with taking over at Old Trafford. There were also prolonged links with Thomas Tuchel until the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager was named as Southgate’s permanent successor with the Three Lions.
