Scott Vail, caddy for Keegan Bradleysaid he hears it from bag room attendants all the time. He will go there to get the big bag of Bradley’s staff and they always say the same thing, “It’s so heavy; this is the worst!”
Vail, of course, already knows this.
“I’m like, ‘Say when he’s around!'” Vail says.
Longtime Looper was the guest on this week’s episode GOLF’s Subpar Podcast and discussed caddying for Bradley, Ryder Cup preparation and some of his most memorable moments on Tour, but much of the conversation focused on his relationship with 2025 USA Ryder Cup Captain.
One (touchy?) topic: the weight of Bradley’s bag. Co-host Drew Stoltz asked Vail to name the most unnecessary item Bradley carries on him.
“Don’t make me go,” he joked. “This will make my blood boil. He has this, what he calls his, ‘If things go horribly wrong completely.’
“He has contacts, he has glasses, he has eye drops because he wears contacts. I’ve never seen it used – ever. And it’s like this tin box. tin box – heavy. And it’s loaded with stuff, and he says, “That’s if things go horribly wrong.” And I say, ‘Well, they haven’t been terribly wrong yet? When can we get rid of this?’”
Vail said Bradley is quick to point out that his corpse is certainly strong enough to hold the bag — but Vail has an objection.
“Have you heard of the straw that broke the camel’s back?” Vail said. “There was one straw; let’s get rid of that stuff – we don’t need that stuff. I don’t even know what’s in it. I know there are contacts, it’s this little package, first aid kit. I don’t know, should I do CPR when things go wrong? That’s the only thing in the bag that I don’t even know why it’s there.”
