Tiger Woods was told by Steve Williams “to ‘F’ Off”, and they each hanged the phone.
The sequence then repeated itself before forest It’s called for the third time.
After all, he was wondering if Williams … Would I want to be his caddy?
Williams tells the story well, and he did this both in this week’s episode of Golf Podcast “Subpar” (which you can see by clicking here) And in the book “We Waze together”, which he co -author with Evin Priest (and can be bought here). In “Subpar”, Williams placed things by saying he had arrived at the 1999 Open with his then pro, Raymond Floydand he would have heard that Woods had shared ways with his cadet at the time, Mike “Fluff” Cowan.

“I really didn’t think too much,” Williams said in Podcast. “And on Tuesday night in my hotel room – this is only after we arrived from the moisture of New Zealand planes – we had the phone ring in my hotel room. I have a son, a very good friend who is a pro golf, and he can imitate the tiger on a top – his body, his tongue, his tongue, his tongue.
“I just thought it was him, and no uncertain term – it was late in the evening – I just told him to” turn off “and give me a ring tomorrow. A few minutes later, the ring phone, and it was the same question, and I gave him almost the same answer. Then the third time, I thought, well, maybe not my friend, Bob.

“And of course, it wasn’t; it was Tiger. So it was a very good start about Banter who have Kivis and Aussies, that kind of our way of thinking is a little different, I think, with what tiger would be used. So we left for a good start there.”
But why Williams like Woods’ Caddy?
The “Subpar” co-perpetrator Drew Stoltz asked him, and Williams thought the choice was based on his personality.
“I’ve always had a reputation as a consistent type of a boy,” Williams said in Podcast. “I am not afraid to express my opinion and I am not afraid to return, if you like it.
“And the tiger asked some people – Mark O’MearaHis good friend; Butch harmonhis coach at the time; And a couple of other people. Of course every person Tiger asked him, they had several different velvet, but my name was synonymous with all the people he asked, and so it happened. “
