The closer you reach the hole, the easier it is to hit the ball near the flag. But even when the recreation players have a wedge in their hands, there is no guarantee for the ball to end where they want.
If it is a consolation for the weekend fighters there, just know that hitting him close with a wedge is not enough guarantee that you might think it is. This season in PGA Tour, the average distance in the pin in a stroke from 100-125 yard (the main wedge distance) is just over 20 meters. So don’t hit yourself if you don’t hit it close after a wedge approach – it’s not as easy as you can think.
But just because you have to manage your expectations does not mean you should not try to Hit the solid wedge shots. Your wedges are your note clubs, and when you can hit them closer to the hole, it becomes much easier to make birds.

One of the biggest issues that amateurs face with their wedge game is sustainable distance control. Left -right distribution with wedge compared to their front distribution.
Henley says this is because it is necessary to know your numbers with your wedges. Going to an imitator with a release monitor is a great way to do so, though you can do it with a rangefinder in an external range of steering.
“Most days I attract Trackman and practice between 60 and 140 yards,” Henley says. “I go to the rise of 5 (yards).”
Practicing what your swing feels when you hit these numbers is essential to become a better wedge player, but for recreation players that require rapid improvement, the answer is even simpler.
“Good contact is the bulk,” Henley says. “I’ve hit a lot of cuts and drawings, but I realized that my distance was very different. So as much as I can just hit a good basic contact stroke over and over, it allows me to hit my numbers better.”
If you are serious about becoming a better wedge player, dedicate it to Henley’s advice. Once you can generate rigid contact on a more durable basis, it becomes a much easier heck to call on your numbers with marking clubs.
