If there is a part of the “wisdom” of the golf to retire, it is “keep your head down”. Usually, delivered by a parent with good meaning or the boy who expects shots at the other stall in the range, this myth may be the most constant oscillation killer in golf instructions.

While many players know how harmful this advice may be, few realize that it can destroy your short game – and some are even guilty to make this mistake about the greens.

But don’t worry, it’s an easy mistake to fix, and like Parker McLachlin, A Top 100 Golf teacher to see;

How to Practice Your Head

If you want to start dropping your head on the target, McLachlin says you try this simple exercise next time you practice: go to the top of your swing, then turn (or drop) your head towards the target.

“I want you really let your head start moving a little earlier than you’ve ever felt,” McLachlin says.

With this adjustment, you need to feel an improvement of your rotation and cheaper in your deception movement.

“This (releasing your head) will help you really shallow,” McLachlin says. “It will help to include the upper body, especially rotally.”

“This is what we want. We want to be shallow. We want to rotate. This is really important – it will restore freedom to your annoying movement. It will set speed in the right place in order to start rotating it again.”
