This is what the Jordan 1 golf shoe should have been from the jump

I am one big fan of Jordan 1 Low golf shoes.

I’ve been very vocal about it. And I also realize that while I might like it, it’s not necessarily what I’d call a great golf shoes. It’s not even good golf shoes.

It’s more of a shoe than a shoe golf shoes.

This year, Jordan Brand finally decided retool Jordan 1 Low and I’m happy to report that the new pair is much more suited to the golf course.

It’s weird because, in all honesty, The new spiked Jordan 1 Low G is what the Jordan 1 Low should have been all along.

It took them so long to get it right. But I’m glad they did. Here’s what’s new and why it is better than its studless counterpart.

Withdrawal

Of course, the studded variant provides better traction than its non-studded sibling. That said, it’s not much better. The addition of seven soft studs definitely helps traction, but there’s still room for at least two more. This, and the rest of the outsole, is slightly lowered.

Traction is a function of spikes and secondary traction plugs. I wish this pair had even more studs and more pronounced secondary studs. That said, it’s better than the Jordan 1 Low spikeless golf shoes.

Pillow

The only other real improvement, albeit a big one, is the pillow setup. The new Jordan 1 Low studded golf shoe adds more cushioning in the heel, specifically, to go along with the invisible AIR unit.

Jordan Brand doesn’t mention exactly what foam they’re using here, but from what I can tell, it feels like Cushlon. That’s my best, somewhat educated guess.

In any case, it’s more responsive and offers some of that initial “stiff” feel when transitioning from heel to toe. The change here makes for a much more comfortable walking experience.

Something else?

Raised cushion and traction come at a premium, as one might expect. The Jordan 1 Low G with studs will set you back about $25 more than the non-studded pair.

Is it worth it? You betcha. All in all, it’s the closest thing Jordan Brand has to a retro “performance.”
