The Titleist “1” Wood Wood Platform has always been a product designed for higher handicappers and slower swingers to help them get the ball in the air.
But after this past week, Title GT1 forest freeway have now won multiple PGA Tour titles in just the last few months and have seen a huge increase in usage.
Michael Brennan just became the youngest PGA Tour winner with the GT1 3Tour variant for his 3-wood. The 23-year-old pro, who had status only on the PGA Tour Americas before this week, put on a clinic off the tee at Utah Bank Championshipearning more than 7.5 tackles, the most of any player all season.

Brennan added the GT1 3Tour to his bag last week after working with Titleist Tour representative Nick Geyer in Utah to replace his previous GT3 track. Geyer said Brennan liked the shallower face of the GT1 compared to the GT3, and it was easier for him to get the ball in the air off the fairway without losing any performance off the tee.
That was evident in the final round, when Brennan 3-wooded the green on the par-4 14th from 312 yards to set up his final birdie of the week.
The GT1 fairway wood, like all other “1” title products (ie TSi1, TSr1), was designed as an ultra-light product with a super-deep center of gravity to help players get the ball in the air. But with the addition of adjustable fore and aft weighting, dropping the front heavy weight to a standard weight spec creates a high-launch, low-spinning fairway wood that even the best players are drawn to.
“During fairway testing of the GT1, we found that some tour players really liked the shape and face height, but we knew that many of them would need a little less loft and lower CG for a stronger flight,” said JJ Van Wezenbeeck, Titleist’s senior director of club promotions.

The GT1 3Tour that Brennan uses takes the design and gives it a slightly stiffer loft and even lower CG to help speed players produce a flatter trajectory but still benefit from the wide, shallow profile.
Van Wezenbeeck told GOLF at the Travelers Championship that GT1 Tour usage was about on par with GT3 and just behind GT2 on the Titleist Fairway wood set. Kurt Kitayama won the 3M Open earlier this year with a GT1 3-wood and 7-wood in his bag.
