This cleverly designed golf travel bag folds up for easy storage

Welcome to I Tent It, a GOLF.com series about golf items — apparel, equipment, accessories, and more. — that we recently took out for a spin. We’re here to give our honest and simple opinions on the latest and greatest golf or golf related articles. So scroll down to read about what we love about the newest (or new to us) golf products.

I’m not on the golf course much these days, but when a trip involving flying across state lines loomed on the horizon, I was forced to accept the fact that my 15-year-old travel bag was probably ready for retirement.

So which bag would be next for me? My husband is a Club Glove devotee, but I was in the market for something a little less expensive, the reason being that I really needed a vessel to clean my safe clubs a few times a year, max. As any traveling golfer knows, travel bag prices vary widely, from $450 or more on the high end to less than $100 on the ultra-cheap end. I decided to share the change somewhere, choosing to give it a try Ogio Alphawhich retails for $249.99.

OGIO ALPHA Mid Golf Travel Cover

Designed for players who demand more, the OGIO Alpha Mid Travel Cover offers premium protection and smart comfort. Sized for tote bags or strollers, it features additional compartments for shoes and accessories. Thick padding protects your bundles from any bumps and drops, while its foldable design and adjustable strap make storage and travel effortless. Rugged, roomy and versatile – the Alpha Mid is built to go the distance.

The Alpha delivers exactly what you’d expect from a golf travel bag: durable, heavy-duty exterior and easy-rolling wheels. At first glance, it looks pretty basic, but its standard appearance masks a number of useful features.

First, the exterior zippers are equipped with convenient drawstrings and travel more than 180 degrees around the bag, so it’s easy to stow your sticks when it’s fully opened. There’s an internal buckle that wraps around your bag to keep it in place, and the club heads are wrapped by a padding layer that surrounds the top third of the bag, with enough room to add a stiff arm for additional protection if desired.

There’s an exterior zippered pocket that’s deep enough to accommodate a pair of golf shoes or other accessories, and the bag’s exterior buckles are equipped with convenient, heavy-duty handles to make it easy to lift the bag horizontally after pulling.

My carry-on bag is size-adjusted, so once attached, there was plenty of room around it for extra essentials. The Alpha is large enough to fit both standard-sized carry-on bags and trolley bags.

The best feature of the bag, however, in my opinion, is the ease of storage when not in use. The Alpha folds down to the size of a duffel bag in a few quick steps, and even comes with an extra buckle to secure it in that compact, folded position.

Another great detail: Whether you’re flying or transporting your clubs, I love the addition of the extra-large shipping label/address window on the bottom of the bag, making identification quick and easy.

Bonus: When you buy an Ogio bag, you can charge your receipt to enjoy free round-trip shipping from Ship Sticks. Interested? Click here for more details. And to add the Ogio Alpha to your gear arsenal, click on the product link above!
