Manchester United could explore options to strengthen up front Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres among the names to see.
However, even if Gyokeres’ asking price has dropped, there has allegedly still been no contact with Sporting, with options from the Premier League also possible.
That’s according to transfer reporter Ben Jacobs as he spoke Four Four Twowith the journalist explaining that Gyokeres could now be available for €70m, down from €100m.
The Red Devils clearly need to strengthen in attack after poor form from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee this season, while Marcus Rashford looks likely to leave Old Traffordseconds Sky Sports and others
Viktor Gyokeres transfers one to keep an eye on Manchester United due to Ruben Amorim’s link
Jacobs acknowledges that the Gyokeres links could make sense because of the Ruben Amorim connection, although he also stresses that there has been no formal contact yet.
Still, the Sweden international has been in sensational form and would certainly make sense as an upgrade to what United currently have, as would other names such as Victor Osimhen.
“Manchester United could still have another striker and of course by the summer people will naturally link them with Viktor Gyokeres because of the Ruben Amorim links,” said Jacobs.
“At the moment, this is a bit premature. There has been no communication with Sporting yet, but what we can say is that the price of Gyokeres has dropped from his €100m release clause to a something of 70 million euros.
“So he is a bit more affordable and certainly has lower wages and agent fees compared to another historic Manchester United target in Victor Osimhen, but they could look for something cheaper or potentially within the Premier League “.
MUFC have failed to score goals this season, but they also have plenty of other weaknesses in this squad, so it remains to be seen whether they will now focus on a striker or consider their defense and midfield a priority.
