29-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team Lytton Das is open to the challenges ahead Indian National Cricket Team At home in the upcoming two-match Test series.
Najmul Hussain Shanto‘s Bangladesh was defeated recently Shan MassoudPakistan 2-0 in historic away Test series. This win gave Bangladesh a lot of confidence and they will enter the Test series in India.
The first Test of the Bangladesh tour of India 2024 will be played in Chennai from September 19 and the second Test in Kanpur from September 27.
Litton Das was one of Bangladesh’s heroes in the epic Test series win over Pakistan as he scored 56 and 138 in two innings. His 138-run knock in the Second Test will go down as one of the best in the history of Bangladesh Test cricket, as he scored those runs as his team trailed by 26/6.
Meanwhile, speaking ahead of India’s Test series, Litton Das said they need to move on from the success in Pakistan and are looking forward to a tough series in India.
“We played very well against Pakistan. That is now in the past,” Litton told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
“Obviously, it’s very important (to put the Pakistan series behind) and you (the media) have to help a little bit. It’s better if you don’t talk too much about the Pakistan series. There are big tough series ahead (against India).
Litton Das added that India are a dominant team in their own backyard. He said:
“When we play India at home, they are always the better side. I wouldn’t say it will be extremely difficult or very easy. They are a very good team in their conditions. If you look at the rankings, they are So I think it will be a tough series for us. “
India are a big team and the ball will change too – Litton Das from Kookaburra about to adapt to the SG ball
Litton Das was also worried about the ball change when playing India as they will have to adapt to the SG ball from the Kookaburra. He also highlighted the main difference between the two balls.
“India are a big team and the ball will change. We rarely play with that ball. It will be difficult. The players are working hard.
“When it comes to preparation, we play as many basic ball players as we can. The SG ball is a bit harder. It’s difficult to play with the Kookaburra when the ball is new, but it’s easier to play after the ball is old. However, with the SG ball, it’s a bit easier to play with the new ball, but it is more difficult to play with the old ball, we practice, let’s see what will happen.
Litton Das further spoke about the need for Bangladesh to dominate the first sessions in the upcoming Test series to stay ahead in the game.
“We have to focus on that. In Test cricket, you have to win sessions. Every session is important. Personally, I feel we didn’t play 100% in the first sessions. There is room for a lot of improvement here,” Litton Das added.
Being the senior player of the team, Litton Das knows very well that he has to take charge and lead the batting unit from the front. He said he will have to consistently perform well with the bat, but it is not possible to perform in every game.
“I have been playing cricket for 10 years, so I have some experience. Now is the time to take responsibility. If I don’t take responsibility now, when will I? But that doesn’t mean I have to accept this game. Responsibility in every match carry and I could be wrong,” said Litton Das.
