Turki Alalshikh is interested in Theofimo fights IBF and WBO swelling champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. If Lopez loses against Barboza, he can forget to get the chance for that mega-day firm and will hold on to the loser’s bracket of the Mini tournament.
Cracks in the armor
Barboza is the most difficult battle that Lopez has taken against Chailaine Ortiz in February last year, and it has been seen as a gift decision given by Nevada’s judges as he was dominated throughout.

Arnold (32-0, 11 COs) is not as fast and does not throw combinations like Kailaine. He is skilled, moves well and has an excellent stitch. It is a weapon used by Arnold to defeat his last two opponents, Jake Catterall and Jose Ramirez.
If the Teo is on, he is wonderful and looks unbeatable, but he is not consistent enough to count on it. He will have to be 100% for him to against Barboza Jr. He is now fighting at a high level with his recent wins over Ramirez and Catterall.

Spiritual minefield
WBO Light Welterweight Champion Lopez’s inactivity and fragile mental condition put him at risk in this fight against the no. 1 approved compulsory challenger, Barboza jr. (32-0, 11 COs). It’s been almost a year since Theofimo’s last fight against Steve Claggett on June 29.
He did not look good in that battle, as a big bird put down against the ropes and let the traveler Claggett release him with his uninterrupted heavy artillery. Although Lopez won, his eyes were badly swollen, and he looked a terrible face. His promoter, Bob Arum, did not look happy for the fight with his actions.
