RunBlogRun presents
A journey to compete
Series 1:
Julie Benson, NIKE Elite Trainer
Sponsored by NIKE
July Benson has seen the sport from many angles. First as a youth athlete, then as a high school and college athlete, and now as a NIKE Elite Trainer and NIKE NIL Athlete Instructor.
Julie Benson is an incredibly articulate champion of coaching. For Julie Benson, coaching is both a calling and a profession. When I interview her athletes, they tell me how Julie Benson inspires them and how she helps them achieve their dreams.
The interview covered his beginnings in the sport, his early acceptance of wanting to be a coach, and his lifelong love of the 400m.
Julie Benson moved from the 400 meters to the 800 meters in high school, then the 1,500 meters and the mile at James Madison University after finishing second in the 800 meters at the Virginia high school state meet. At James Madison University, Julie Benson had a PB of 2:09 for the 800m and 4:20 for the 1500m. The 1992 US Olympic Trials really inspired him, and he wrote a handwritten note to Mark Nenow (former AR 10,000m), who was at ASICS at the time, and sent his ASICS product and sent him to a training group. Then he joined the job Frank Galliano and: Ron Helmerand then ran to Reebok Enclavea unique club in the US at the time.
July Benson is a smart sports watcher. That’s the highest compliment I can pay this coach I’ve had the pleasure of talking to over the past three decades.
Julie works remotely with most of her athletes, who are some of the best milers in the world. July Benson does what he loves. coaching
Currently, July Benson also does mentoring work NIKE NIL athletes, in a program that protects Josh Rowe from NSAF: as well as coaching a group of elite top athletes in the 800m/1500m and mile.
For: #Journey to competecooperation #NIKErunning and: #RunBlogRun, July Benson is our first coach to be interviewed. Julie has some great tips for coaching young athletes.
We were so lucky to interview Julie Benson and thank NIKE for supporting this project.
