The youngest riders to score a podium in the MotoGP era, including Marc Marquez and Casey Stoner


A number of young riders have reached the top of the MotoGP era since 2002, including Marc Marquez after the Spaniard took his first Grand Prix podium.

Pedro Acosta is the youngest rider to score a Grand Prix podium in the MotoGP era.

The youngest riders to score a Grand Prix podium in the MotoGP era

Acosta took his first MotoGP Grand Prix podium in his second premier class race after KTM fielded the Mazarone native in their satellite team, Tech3, for his rookie season. The 2021 Moto3 and 2023 Moto2 title winner finished the P9 in his MotoGP debut at the 2024 Qatar GP.

Also the only rider in the MotoGP era to take a Grand Prix podium at the age of 19, Acosta became the youngest rider to reach the Sprint Race rostrum in 2024 in Tech3’s rookie season. However, it took Acosta 34 more days to get a Sprint podium than a Grand Prix.

The youngest drivers to score a Sprint Race podium in the MotoGP era

Acosta became the youngest rider to achieve a four-round MotoGP Sprint Race podium in 2024 when he won P2 at that season’s Spanish Grand Prix in a sprint. At Jerez, he split the sprint rostrum with compatriots Jorge Martin and Dani Pedrosa in an all-Spanish affair.

After Yamaha’s French star Fabio Quatararo received an eight-second post-race penalty for low tire pressure, 2024 KTM test rider Pedrosa advanced to the sprint podium in Jerez. The Nice native finished 0.050s ahead of Pedrosa to claim P3.
