A number of young riders have reached the top of the MotoGP era since 2002, including Marc Marquez after the Spaniard took his first Grand Prix podium.

Honda hero Marquez joins Yamaha icons George Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi on the podium at the 2003 Qatar GP, finishing 6.201 seconds clear of his compatriot and 0.211 seconds clear of the Italian. It was just one of 13 occasions the three riders shared a Grand Prix podium.

Pedro Acosta is the youngest rider to score a Grand Prix podium in the MotoGP era.
Marquez is one of only a handful of riders to have reached the MotoGP Grand Prix podium at such a young age when he secured P3 at the 2013 Qatar GP. Another Spaniard took the record from Marquez Pedro Acosta In 2024 he got P3 Portuguese Grand Prix For tech 3.

Acosta took his first MotoGP Grand Prix podium in his second premier class race after KTM fielded the Mazarone native in their satellite team, Tech3, for his rookie season. The 2021 Moto3 and 2023 Moto2 title winner finished the P9 in his MotoGP debut at the 2024 Qatar GP.
Acosta went one better in his third race on the MotoGP grid as Tech3 secured his first premier class P2 finish at the 2024 Grand Prix of the Americas. Acosta finished the race just 1.728 seconds behind to take his first Grand Prix win, also beating Maverick Viñales for Aprilia.
The youngest rider to score a MotoGP Sprint Race podium is Pedro Acosta.

Also the only rider in the MotoGP era to take a Grand Prix podium at the age of 19, Acosta became the youngest rider to reach the Sprint Race rostrum in 2024 in Tech3’s rookie season. However, it took Acosta 34 more days to get a Sprint podium than a Grand Prix.

Acosta became the youngest rider to achieve a four-round MotoGP Sprint Race podium in 2024 when he won P2 at that season’s Spanish Grand Prix in a sprint. At Jerez, he split the sprint rostrum with compatriots Jorge Martin and Dani Pedrosa in an all-Spanish affair.
After Yamaha’s French star Fabio Quatararo received an eight-second post-race penalty for low tire pressure, 2024 KTM test rider Pedrosa advanced to the sprint podium in Jerez. The Nice native finished 0.050s ahead of Pedrosa to claim P3.
