Team World is on the verge of a third win Laver Cup after a great Saturday cleansing.
Alex de Minaur, Francisco Cerundolo secured victory at the daily session, and Taylor Fritz shocked Carlos Alcaraz to give the team World a 7-3 lead.

De Minaur and Alex Michelsen put the icing on the cake with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Casper Ruud and Holger Rune in the Saturday nightcap, stretching the lead to 9-3.Â
It was the most successful day in the history of the world team, and the players gathered around their captain Andre Agassi, who has been an inspiring figure on the bench, throwing chest bumps for his players and bringing high octane theater.
“He’s bringing serious energy and we love it,” De Mineur told Agassi.
Agassi, eight times the big champion, had a lot to smile in his first year as captain.
“This is the easiest day I have ever had in my life,” he said, adding: “We have one more day, we have to run it in the finish line.”
Team World takes a third -time superiority in Laver Cup’s eight -year history. They also did so in Vancouver in 2023, and left victorious. Last year they exploded an 8-4 leading to the European team in Berlin.
They have to win two of the four Sunday matches to avoid a double-time overtime match (all matches are worth three points on Sunday, meaning the team Europe can force a 12-12 tie winning three of four). If Team World does not go with the victory, it may be Fritz’s extraordinary performance against Alcaraz ranked with No.1 that will put them on top.
“It’s not like he did it in a quick lightning court,” Agassi told Fritz’s 6-3, 6-2 victory. “He had conviction. He knew exactly what he wanted to do … I’m so proud of Fritzy and I hope he understands what he is capable of.”
