The Tigers are reportedly “All-In” on the Free Agent Slugger

The Detroit Tigers got their first taste of postseason baseball since 2014 when they finished with a record of 86-76 and made the playoffs via a wild-card berth.

Not only did the Tigers surprise everyone by making the postseason, but they swept the Houston Astros in the wild-card series.

Now that the Tigers have experienced the feeling of being a winning organization, they are making strides this offseason to try to improve even more for the 2025 season.

The Tigers added second baseman Gleyber Torres in free agency from the New York Yankees and starter Alex Cobb from the Cleveland Guardians.

The Tigers are now in talks to sign free agent third baseman Alex Bregman from the Astros, according to reports, and MLB analyst Xavier Scruggs offered his thoughts on the reports.

“If you’re going to commit to moving Colt Keith to first base and have Gleyber Torres, you need Bregman,” Scruggs said via Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio.

Scruggs believes that if the Tigers are all that willing to pay top dollar for Bregman, it would be a good move for them due to Bregman’s consistent play.

In 2024, Bregman played 145 games where he hit .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBI and a .768 OPS.

Bregman has been a staple for the Astros on seven straight American League championship runs, and you know what you’re going to get from him.

With Bregman remaining one of the top free agents, the Tigers will be a team to watch to see if they can get a deal done.
