Jannik Sinner says he is ready to take risks with his game – even if it means to lose more matches in the short term – after falling with his rival Carlos Alcaraz in the Us Open Sunday final.

The Italian 24-year-old, who threw the final into four groups, admitted that he was very predictable against the Spaniard, who has now beaten him in seven of their last eight meetings since the beginning of 2024.
“I was very predictable today in court on his way that did a lot of things, he changed the game,” Sinner said. “This is also his style of how he plays. Now it will be on me whether I want to make changes or not. That is definitely we will work for that.”

Alcaraz, who claimed his sixth Grand Slam title, produced a perfect tour, dropping only three service games in seven games and displaying the best service week of his career. In contrast, the sinner tried to find his rhythm, descending only 48 percent of his first services and earning only 69 percent of those points. He was broken five times in 17 service games in the final.
The loss also grabbed Sinner’s Sinner with the 27 strong matches of Grand Slam victory, a run dating back to Australian Open of 2024.
“I didn’t make a volon of service, I didn’t use a lot of falling shots, and then you reach a point where you play against Carlos where you have to get out of the comfort zone,” the sinner reflected. “So I will aim to probably lose some matches from now on, but trying to make some changes, trying to be a little more unpredictable as a player because I think that’s what I have to do, trying to become a better tennisist.”
