The Ring’s latest Super Middleweight -Rankings: The case for Osleys Iglesias as the true top contender

In the Ring Magazine’s latest super -middle weight ranking, Canelo Alvarez was moved from champion to #1 after his loss of Terence Crawford last Saturday night. The rankings were updated on September 15, 2025.

Bud is now the ring champion at 168 after only one fight in the weight class. It was considered a big enough victory for Crawford (42-0, 31 COs) to give him the champion place. He became an undisputed champion of three divisions and won his fifth section title.

Alvarez’s dubious #1 rankings

It is doubtful whether Canelo (63-3-2, 39 COs) earns the number 1 rankings, as there are probably four fighters under him on the top 10 who would have an excellent chance of beating him like Crawford, but in a more impressive way.

I believe that 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 Alvarez would beat. #10 is William Scull, a fighter who defeated Canelo on May 3. However, I suspect he would fight very aggressively in a rematch after seeing what Crawford did to Canelo. Scull is better than he showed against Canelo.

I judge his power, hand speed and combination -ponsecration over the ring champion Crawford’s. Scull did not use his talent against Canelo.

The Ring’s Top 10 for Super -Midweight

Champion: Terence Crawford

  1. Canelo Alvarez
  2. Osleys Iglesias
  3. Christian Milli
  4. Lester Martinez
  5. Diego Pacheco
  6. Jose Armando Resendiz
  7. Caleb plant
  8. Hamzah sheeraz
  9. Bruno Surace
  10. William Scull

The non -official king: Iglesias

Osleys Iglesias (14-0, 13 COs) should be in my opinion #1, and I believe he would beat everyone in the updated list of the Ring for 168, including Crawford. The power of the Southpaw Iglesias in his right hook, left hand, and Jab would be difficult for Terence to handle. He reached the same as Crawford and cut off the ring well.

Pressfighters Crawford Avoid

After watching Mbilli, Martinez and Pacheco in their careers, they would have major problems for Crawford with their strength, size and pressure. These are guys who wouldn’t be careful to throw, and they would attack Crawford relentlessly.

Crawford’s focus on maximizing his revenue and his desire to catch more belts means he is unlikely to choose to defend his undisputed Super -Midweweight Championship against any of these fighters.

Crawford’s bait for Canelo

Terence has not yet evacuated his titles because he probably holds them for the purpose of using it as a bait to lure Canelo to a second fight. However, if he does not get the re -broadcast, Crawford is likely to evacuate the title when he was ordered to defend against Iglesias and the winner of the Mbilli against Martinez Rematch.
