The Boston Red Sox finished the 2024 season with 81 wins and 81 losses and missed the playoffs for the third straight time.
After winning the American League East division three straight from 2016-2018, the Red Sox haven’t won it since.
As the offseason continues, the Red Sox are already making moves to try to keep up with their division rivals, the New York Yankees.
According to MLB insider Robert Murray, the Red Sox have agreed to a contract with free agent Justin Wilson.

Wilson is a 12-year veteran of the league who has played for six different teams so far in his career.
In 2024, Wilson appeared in 60 games with the Cincinnati Reds, posting a 5.59 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 46.2 innings.
The 60 games Wilson appeared in were his most since the 2018 season, when he appeared in 71 games for the Chicago Cubs.
With the Yankees winning the AL East and making it to the World Series, it looks like the Red Sox will have to make some moves to keep up with them in 2025.
Wilson isn’t a huge acquisition for the team, but he will give the bullpen another veteran presence.
The Red Sox have nine World Series titles in franchise history and four in the last 21 years, but they’ve hit a cold stretch, making the postseason in just one of the last six years.
It will be interesting to see if the Red Sox are just starting to sign Wilson and plan to make more moves as the season goes on.
