Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be out of his side’s game against Watford in the Carabao Cup.
The striker has been rested for personal reasons this week but is expected to return in time for the game against Newcastle United.
according to Manchester Evening Newsthe Man City star has returned to Norway following the death of a family friend.
Haaland has been the standout player for his side this season, scoring ten Premier League goals in just five games this season.
He has taken the Sky Blues back to the top of the league with his fine form.
The Norwegian is once again the clear leader in the Premier League Golden Boot race and not many would bet on him to win the individual award again.
Despite dealing with personal issues off the pitch, the forward has been in fine form for his club and has not let off-pitch issues affect his form on the pitch.
Following the death of Ivar Eggja, a family friend of Erling Haaland who had attended both the opening of the Etihad Stadium and the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony, Man City’s first-team squad joined to support the striker.
Haaland was deeply affected by the defeat, but his teammates and club staff rallied around him, offering him their full support during this difficult period.
The response underlines the strong sense of unity within the City squad, which goes beyond football.

Haaland was offered compassionate leave by Man City following Eggja’s death, but opted to stay with the team for their Premier League games against Brentford and Arsenal, as well as the game of the Champions League against Inter Milan.
He is expected to be available for City’s next Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday.
According to the report, a funeral is due to be held in Norway this week and Man City have allowed Haaland to leave the first-team squad ahead of the League Cup match to attend and pay his respects.
