The real reason you fight with bunker shots – and how to fix it



If you want to be successful from the Greenside bunkers, you need to get the right amount of sand. One of the most common mistakes amateurs that make in the Greenside bunkers is the sand entry too far from the ball – resulting in a thick blow in fluffy conditions or a stroke sculled by the strongest lies.

It is a disappointing mistake – and often inevitable -, as many amateurs unconsciously have applied configuration adjustments that encourage them to depend again through shaking, making them hit the sand too early. These changes include: playing their ball too far forward, bending their shoulders away from the target (like you for a swinging driver) and focusing their eyes far from the ball.

This forces the players to make a rhythm where the lower body slips forward and the upper body bends back, away from the target. The result? A club that enters the sand too early and throws the ball back into the bunker or sends it by sailing over the green.

However, with only four configuration adjustments and a simple swinging key, you can build a solid foundation and learn to drive through the ball for a durable stable position every time. Let’s break them.

Configuration keys for a strong stroke from the bunker

1. Expand your attitude, shoulder level

A wide attitude makes it easier depends on the buttocks, which creates a neutral spine angle and helps the shoulders feel the ground level.

2. The ball position between the left chest

Playing the ball with the logo on your shirt will greatly increase your chances of hitting the sand in the right location.

3. Finger lines closed by target

Targeting your legs slightly to the target (for right -hand players) makes it focused on shaking much easier to achieve. This tweak will also help eliminate the sliding of the lower body and keep your upper body not hang back.

4. Place your gaze on top of the ball

If you tend to get into the sand too early, finding a directly fainting at the top of the ball to concentrate will help you enter the sand in a timely manner.

In your landing, try to push your lead leg. This will help you use the vertical force to keep the foot from sliding or tightening as you swing.

If you are trying to feel your chest by rotating the target, imagine you are throwing a ball against a wall. This visual should help you get the top of your body by turning, over the lead leg and helping you sprinkle it in green.
