The Premier League confirms September’s nominees for player and manager of the month


The nominees for September’s Premier League Player and Manager of the Month awards have been revealed.

Eight stars have been nominated for their performances on the pitch throughout the month, with a combination of a panel of experts and fan voting to decide the winner.

It’s also been a positive four weeks or so for a number of managers, with a handful of unbeaten bosses making the list.

After being lost in the Newcastle United wilderness for a while, Harvey Barnes has returned to training during the first months of 2024/25. He struck out three times over the course of September, striking out Tottenham HotspurWolves and Fulham.

Luis Diaz will be one of the favorites to claim the monthly silverware. The Colombian has been on a clinical run of late, scoring four goals, including a first-half brace, in a 3-0 rout of Manchester United at Old Trafford.

fellow reds Ryan Gravenberchwho has secured a starting spot under Arne Slot, is also on the short list. The Dutchman made a maximum of 231 passes between midfielders and won possession on 29 separate occasions.

arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes he helped his side remain unbeaten throughout September and his goal threat from set pieces was a big factor in the Gunners’ win at Tottenham and draw with Manchester City.

Raul Jimenez and Fulham did not taste defeat during the month either, with the Mexican’s three goals of great importance. He also became the second player for his country to reach the age of 50 Premier League objectives

Any hopes Everton had of picking up points in September seemed to be dashed Dwight McNeilthe feet The former Burnley man came into his own at key moments, inspiring a much-needed 2-1 win over Crystal Palace with a brace.

Chelsea were another unbeaten team, with Cole Palmer the main creative force of the Blues. The England international ended September with four goals against Brighton & Hove Albion, but had previously scored at West Ham United and assisted against Palace.

Rounding out the nominees is Aston Villa Ollie Watkins. The 28-year-old scored his first four La Liga goals of the season and set up two more, helping Unai Emery’s side to two wins and a draw.

No team took more points from their games in September than Chelseawith Enzo Maresca starting to feel at home at Stamford Bridge after a rough start. It hasn’t been the most intimidating fixture list, but the improvement was still clear in wins over Bournemouth, West Ham and Brighton after starting the month with a draw at home to Palace.

Arne Slott he is no longer undefeated as Liverpool manager after defeat by Nottingham Forest, but his Reds remain top of the Premier League after a pretty positive month. This defeat came as a surprise after they ventured into the international break following a 3-0 win at Man Utdbut the Merseysiders have since bounced back by seeing off Bournemouth and Wolves.

It was another period of improvement for Arsenal, with Mikel ArtetaThe dark arts of in the heart of their victory at Tottenham and draw with Man Citythe last of which was such a gutsy win after holding out for almost the entire second half.

Marc SilvaFulham managed to end the unbeaten starts of Newcastle and Forest, with Emile Smith Rowe and Raul Jimenez enjoying themselves in the final third. The Cottagers are now sixth and have not lost since the opening weekend of the campaign.

Rounding out the list is Unai Emery. All is well for the Villans, who triumphantly beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League, with some spectacular late goals helping them collect seven points from three games.
