The Philadelphia Phillies had a third straight season in 2024, finishing with a record of 95 wins and 67 losses and winning the National League East.

Although they made the playoffs for the third straight year, it was their earliest exit in three years as they lost to the New York Mets in the National League Division Series.

The Phillies’ star power is undeniable with the likes of Bryce Harper, Trey Turner and Kyle Schwarber all in their lineup.

Phillies owner John Middleton revealed his thoughts on his team’s NLDS loss and how angry it made him.

“We have to learn from the NLDS loss to the New York Mets. “I think some old dogs need to learn some new tricks,” Middleton said.

Middleton is apparently annoyed that his team lost to the Mets in the NLDS, and that may be because the Phillies have scored two runs or fewer in all three of their series losses.

The Phillies’ offense disappeared in the loss to the Mets, even with the star power in their lineup.

Middleton may be referring to his team’s reliance on the long ball to score and hinting that they need to be able to score runs through other methods.

Although the Phillies made an early postseason exit in 2024, they last appeared in the World Series in 2022 and last won the title in 2008.

The Phillies will look to regroup this offseason as they prepare for another shot at their third World Series title in franchise history.
