The Philadelphia Phillies were quickly eliminated from the postseason in 2024 when they lost to the New York Mets in the National League Division Series.
While most teams would be happy to win the division and make it to the NLDS, the Phillies had a World Series title in mind after coming so close in 2022 and 2023.
Leaving early in 2024 could force the organization to be aggressive this offseason as they reportedly have interest in two big free agents.
“They’re interested in going after Willie Adames or Alex Bregman,” insider John Morosi said, via MLB Network.

Additionally, Morosi notes that the Phillies’ pursuit of these two players tells him that third baseman Alec Bohm is on the trade market.
Adames has said publicly that he would be willing to switch positions from shortstop for the right contract, and Bregman played third base for the Houston Astros.
Both players have had productive seasons with their respective clubs in 2024.
Adams played in 161 games for the Milwaukee Brewers, hitting .251 with 32 home runs, 112 RBIs and a .794 OPS.
Bregman played in 145 games for the Astros, hitting .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs and a .768 OPS.
Although Bohm was an All-Star in 2024, his struggles late in the season appear to force the Phillies to part ways with him through the 2025 season.
The Phillies will likely be one of the favorites to win the World Series in 2025 as they look to bounce back from last season’s slump.
