The Los Angeles wildfires that have spread across the area could alter the PGA Tour’s plans for next month’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club.
According to the Wildfire Alliance, the Palisades fire, which started on Tuesday, is already the most destructive in the history of Los Angeles.
Pacific Palisades is home to Riviera Country Club, which hosts The invitation of Genesisa signature tourism event organized by Tiger Woods.
On Thursday, the Tour sent a memo to players informing them that it has not made a decision on whether to change the date or location of Genesis.

“At this point, it is premature to discuss the potential impact on the Genesis Invitational,” the Tour said in the memo. “Although Riviera Country Club has not been directly affected by the wildfires, our immediate concern is the health and well-being of those in the affected communities, including all of our members with ties to Southern California. We will keep the membership updated as the situation develops.”
There are still multiple fires burning throughout the Los Angeles area.
According to the Associated Press, the fires have burned more than 10,000 structures and killed at least 10 people. The Palisades Fire has burned over 30 square miles and is only 8 percent contained. About 180,000 people are under evacuation. The fires have spread over an area larger than the city of San Francisco.
The fires have already affected other sports leagues. The NBA postponed the Los Angeles Lakers game Thursday night, and the NFL has moved Monday night’s NFC wild-card game from SoFi Stadium in Englewood, Calif., to Glendale, Ariz.
