Eponym brand was founded in 1978 when stylist Perry Ellis launched his fashion house at 7Th Avenue in New York. He wanted fashion to be fun, accessible and dressed, compared to high art.
Ellis died in 1986. His brand has undergone some ownership changes and now operates as Perry Ellis International. The company owns several brands, including Ben Hogan. She makes her clothing extremely affordable under the Hogan brand, while licensing the name Simon Millington, allowing him to continue golf company Ben Hogan.
But we are not here to talk about it today. On the contrary, I want to share with you the summer/fall 2025 line from another brand in sustainable perry ellis, and what has become my golf clothing brand: Original Pledge by Munsingwear®.
Why “OP” is “OG” in golf dressing

In 1955, a seller from the Munningwear -based MINNEAPOLIS -based company was blocked in New York after making some sales calls. He did what most dealers of the day did: he became snacke in a local irrigation hole. Leaving the grass, he happened at a taxi shop and saw a penguin filled in the window. In what could only be described as a moment of inspiration infected by Boza, he bought it.
At the flight house, he knocked down the penguin’s head. A useful stewardess used the seller’s tie to connect the penguin’s head back to the body and, with words that will live in the infamous, said, “You know, this would look good in a shirt.”
The rest is history.
While even the people in Original Pledge Accept that the story is half true, what is completely true is that the original penguin line became an icon of the middle. When Sinatra, Martin, Hope and Crosby are sporting Pete Penguin, you have the first real living brand of true golf. Perry Ellis won the brand in 1996, making it the cornerstone of its golf strategy and lifestyle.

I’ve never been very fashionable, brand names or, if you were to ask my wife, style of any kind. So no one was more surprised than her to learn about my new love Original Pledge. She’s just happy to not wear my flintstones golf shirt all the time.

Vibe Callaway is different from the original pebble, but modern golf dresses double as leisure clothing, for men, however. We wear it everywhere, whether for pebble, local muna, your child’s school game or your Saturday in the Home Depot. You will not wear that hunt or fishing, but for almost any other activity, we are good to go.
Marketing departments call it “ready for golf with living skills”.
The Callaway Summer/Autumn line is quite low compared to the highest brands like Bad bird OR Rsvtls. Heck, is a little more submissive than Original penguin. From the two rows, OG op gets my vote. The fabrics look softer, the fit feels better and the styling is a little sharper. The Callaway line is good, but the style is a little simple for my taste.
