The New York Yankees fell three wins short of winning the 28th World Series title in franchise history as they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

Now that the season is over, the Yankees face another battle as star outfielder Juan Soto is a free agent.

The Soto Sweepstakes spoke of many teams interested, including the Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox.

With no decision yet made, New York radio host Sal Licata revealed that he thinks Soto will stay in New York, but with the Mets rather than the Yankees.

“It feels like the seeds are slowly starting to be planted for Juan Soto to come out of the New York Yankees,” Licata said, via WFAN Sports Radio .

Licata says he thinks Soto will choose the Mets because their environment is more relaxed and fun than the Yankees.

Playing for the Yankees definitely has its perks, as they have the most World Series titles in all of baseball, but it also comes with a lot of pressure to win.

Licata is leaning toward Soto signing with the Mets and joining an organization that just doesn’t have the same scrutiny as playing for the Yankees.

Signing Soto would cost a lot of money, and Mets owner Steve Cohen should be able to write the check needed.

It will be interesting to see if Licata’s gut feeling is correct or if another dark horse team will play for Soto.
