If you are looking for roll your shots on the pitch high and smooth, I have the main recipe. Spinning it like the pros is fun in theory, but actually doing it requires having great fundamentals.
Here’s what I mean.
First, you need to keep the lean shaft fairly neutral, and the arm should be slightly open in the setup. Second, the backswing length should be slightly longer than normal. I also recommend using some wrist hinges, which allows some slack down on the ball.
The key to this is to use a softer grip pressure, so lower it from 10 to about four.
Finally, to get that funky action you’re looking for, you need to deliver about a foot of speed before impact, which will allow you to pull off the high spin you see on Tour.
