Jermell Charlo continued today with his shotgun approach of exclamations and has Terence Crawford, Vergil Ortiz Jr. And Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis added to his growing list of fighters he is interested in fighting in his comeback.
A return with AI art
In each of the four exclamations, former undisputed junior middleweight champion Charlo (35-2-1, 19 COs) placed an AI-generated image to let his followers know who he wanted to fight. Jermell has not fought since he lost to Canelo Alvarez through a unanimous 12 -round decision on September 30, 2023.
Jermell’s exclamations since Monday
- Sebastian fundora (August 25): An AI image of a lion with a giraffe’s neck in his mouth.
- Errol Spence (August 26): This one had an AI image of a lion biting a shark, and the words: “No friends in the industry. The battle date comes.” The two fighters shared the same gym and coach Derrick James in Dallas, Texas. This is a sign that Jermell plans to fight his former gym Spence, both of which have been inactive since 2023.
- Terence crawford (August 27): An AI image of a lion smoking a cigar with the word ‘lump’ on it. On the ground next to the lion is a pack of cigars with ‘Omaha’ on it, which is Crawford’s hometown in Nebraska.
- Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis (August 27): An AI image of a lion with a luggage bin partially in his mouth, and paws on the boot.
- Vergil Ortiz jr. (August 27): In this Ai-generated image, a lion bite into an ox with Ortiz’s name on his head.
The exclamation strategy for shotgun
Jermell’s shotgun approach to his exclamations is his way of throwing out a broad net to see which one of the four big names he can catch. This is similar to fishing, but with the net it ensures that he will land one big fish for a profitable payday.
Charlo did not say what his wallet expectations were for these battles. He probably heard about the big wallets that fighters get at the Riyadh season events from Turki Alalshikh, which made a handful of boxers quite rich. It is only a small number of fighters who made Turki rich by fighting on his map:
– Anthony Joshua
– Oleksandr Ulsyk
– Ryan Garcia
– Devin Haney
– Theofimo Lopez
– Tyson Fury
