#The Journeyto Compete, Cross-Country, Interview #9. Elise Stearns.


Elise Stearns is an excellent cross-country runner who competes for SWOOSH TC based in Flagstaff, Arizona. After graduating from Eliz in August 2025 Northern Arizona Universityfinished fifth in the 5,000 meters at the USATF Outdoor Championships.

Elise Stearns Set most of his PBs in 2025: 2:10.84 (Feb 2025) 800m, 4:20.94 1500m (May 2025), 8:41.7 (Feb 2025), 15:08.07 (Feb 2025), 15:08.07, 15:08.07 for 5000m and 4:20.94 for 5000m 10,000m (April 2025). Elise has made incredible improvements while at NAU. We look forward to seeing Elise compete in the future.

Now competing SWOOSH Track ClubCoached by Mike Smith and Rachel Smith, Elise just finished seventh in the tough USATF Cross-Country 10k in 34:33.1 on December 6, 2025 at Glendover Golf Course in Portland, Oregon. The writer was very impressed with Eliza’s 10,000 meter run, which I believe was a first (she has done quite well over 5,000 meters in track and 6,000 meters in cross country).

On November 22, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona, Elise Stearns joined his SWOOSH teammates in cheering on the NXR Southwest competitors. Elise and her teammates encouraged the athletes and socialized throughout the day. RunBlogRun spoke with Eliza and her teammates to ask them for training tips for the 3,500 high schoolers competing in NXR Southwest and the thousands competing across the country. Regional NXN.
