The insider believes that 2 teams are the favorites to sign Rocky Sasaki

Major League Baseball’s offseason was arguably the most important yet, as a loaded free agent class began signing with new teams for the 2025 season.

The free agent class is loaded with high-end talent at many different positions, including Juan Soto, Corbin Burns, Max Fried and Alex Bregman.

One pitcher who has remained unsigned thus far is Rocky Sasaki, who is coming to the MLB from Japan as a free agent.

MLB Insider Jon Heyman has revealed who he thinks are the two favorites to knock out Sasaki this season.

“I believe the teams here are the Dodgers and the Padres,” Heyman said via the B/R Walk-Off on “X.”

The young pitcher is believed to have an electric arm and has attracted the attention of multiple MLB teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, New York Mets and New York Yankees.

In 2024, Sasaki appeared in 18 games with his overseas team and posted a 10-5 record with a 2.35 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 111.0 innings.

While many teams are reportedly interested in Sasaki, Heyman believes the Dodgers or Padres will seal the starting spot.

The Dodgers have been listed as the favorites to sign Sasaki for most of the offseason, but the Padres and fellow Japanese prospect Yu Darvish could be attractive to Sasaki.

Sasaki will be a free agent to watch in the coming weeks to see where he ends up in the 2025 season.
