Decades after the initial fall of “Happy Gilmore”, continuing – “Happy Gilmore 2” – finally made its way to the masses Netflix Friday. Maybe you’ve looked at it already. Maybe you plan to still. Maybe you, like me, looked at her first piece on Friday evening (very good!), Rau asleep in bed and looked at the last 40 minutes (very strange!) On Saturday.
But now is the time of review. Your reviewer? I have my qualifications? Controversial. I’m not a film critic, but I’m a) a golf writer; and b) have seen the original “happy gilmore” for once Gazilion. Consider me qualified.
Go below to see what stood out, who shone, what constant questions we have even more. But for those who haven’t seen it, warn! Spoilers exist.
Note: This summary contains spoilers.
conspiracy
The story scene is surprisingly remembered “Rocky V”, when Sylvester Stallone loses everything due to Paulie’s unclear business relationships and moved to a modest home with a normal 9 to 5 job. The same thing happens here, though the adam sandler is mainly his fault, the domino effect of unfortunate circumstances and bad decisions.
Only is only when Gilmore’s daughter – his current daughter in real life – needs money to go to a fancy dance school in Paris that he tries to think of a way to grab quick money and pay for her way. This is when he decides to return to Golf and win some checks, though he quickly finds himself leading a battle between the current golf tour and an initial eccentric league with the future of Pro Golf that depends on balance. (Sounds familiar?)

5 stars shining
This thing is loaded with cameos, with over a doseN players pros play for themselves and some other celebrities (Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, Eminem and more) playing complementary characters. Here’s who stood out.
Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler has some acting pieces! With films like this, some athletes look more comfortable than others. Scheffler is excellent, with its dry sense of mood and devoted deliveries that steal the show. Now if only his golf game was good.
John gave
He lives in Gilmore’s garage and is a random addition, but still great in the film, and the fact that the reason why Daly lives there never explained and makes it even more ridiculous.
Will zalatoryis
Zalaatoris plays an adult, pro-golf-playing version of Gilmore’s Caddy from the original film, which we find out is still upset by the way Gilmore treated it then. Zalaatoris has only a few scenes, but it’s great.
Jordan Spieth
Spieth has a small part, in which he complains about a waiter about the type of gin in his drink, but if you have a limited attack, you can hit some doubles. His line surrendered well and funny that came from him: “I asked for a tanquray and tonic, but I think they gave me Bombay in the country.” And for those who ask, like a denim and-ton fan, yes, you can show the difference.
Rabbit
Porto Rican rapper played a bus that later returned to Gilmore’s kadi. As someone who has not heard Rap (except Beastie boys) in two decades, I didn’t know who this boy was, but my wife informed me that he is apparently popular! (Although she did not know who the couples of Fred or Nelly Korda were, so we are even.) Despite, Mr. Bunny played his role well.
5 random thoughts
– I hope it was a stunt pair that was labeled for Zalatoris when Gilmore treated him, sat on him and pulled into his arms (a return to the original film). Will will turn a bad back!
– I thought the four boys of Gilmore in the film were actually fun. They were unworthy and irrational, but they fit this film well.
– The continuous part where Gilmore had baked hidden everywhere – literally everywhere – was fun. (Although we do not condemn this!)
– They probably had no legal rights to say “PGA Tour” in the film, but it was a strange kind that they continued to refer to the main tour as “regular players”. Although the film did well to have fun for it for it, with Gilmore wearing a hat saying “regular players” on the draft law.
– The last 40 minutes of the film and the regular show of golf players against the Rival Maxi Golf League was, good, strange. It was like playing a golden golf course on the steroid. Although if the issue were for her to be so ridiculous, she was sometimes ridiculous, then maybe she worked. ever

10 random questions
Did we really need to kill the woman and happy minutes on the opening scene? It was like a Disney movie, when the tragedy should always hit the first 10 minutes. I wanted more Julie Bowen in this.
Was it too long? With a shade under two hours, for sure.
Would it have been the McGavin Vs Happy Gilmore PART II than Gilmore and other professionals who received at the Upsart Golf League? Maybe!
If Liv Golf didn’t come to power, would this the film plot still be? Makes you ask yourself
Were there many obstacles in the original film or appearances from the descendants of the characters in the original? Yes. But you can argue that some of them were needed. 29 years have passed since the original film, and I can see how a small refresh is useful (or the connection of points for people who did not really see the first).
Sandler closes the film saying he is directed at British Open. We know he won six tourist championships (as the film said), But would his game be translated at Links Golf?
Speaking of the open championship, how would Happy Gilmore be in the masters? Or, how often would he even play? The green jackets were likely not to have made his antiques and could have denied that entry.
Where was Tiger Woods? A striker he did not make a picture.
With all the proper respect, it was Haley Joel Osment (and his character, Billy Jenkins) The best opportunity for a golf voice?
Couldn’t have provided the money the money they needed through some approval? No subway to save this time?
3 excellent quotes
“Well, it looks like we have our first fatality.” – Verne Lundquist, after a heckler (played by Eminem) is attacked by alligators
“Oh no, no again.” – Scottie Scheffler, after a pair of police officers arrested him for punching another golf
“Do you want bread?” – Bad Bunny, speaking with Rory Mcilroy, who just got a baseball in the sternum; Busboy-returned returned this line several times and always hit
Sharing thoughts!
“Happy Gilmore 2” withdrew from the play book of some Sandler comedies. Many of his friends were in him, and there were a small part of the memorable moments and a bunch of strange pieces that were so funny that you could consider them funny or flat. Maybe a few of the two.
It is practically impossible to get a cult favorite like “Happy Gilmore”, recover nearly three decades later, and get wild ratings. But in a way, “Happy Gilmore 2” was created to be a celebration of a classic comedy and golf. A bunch of fragrances? A bunch of jokes? A funny bunch? I was actually pleasantly surprised by both -thirds of the road, until the last third became a little more removed for me.
There will never be reassessment or cycling as original, but if your main intake is that it was just a flop, you are probably not someone who accepts Gimma and you have to take things a little less seriously.
