The former player named 2 free agents the Orioles should pursue

The Baltimore Orioles are starting to get a reputation for having a very good regular season only to get blown out in the first round of the playoffs.

In the past two seasons, the Orioles won 101 games in 2023 and 91 games in 2024, but both ended in their first playoff series.

The Orioles will look to add some pieces this offseason to clinch that first playoff streak and a longer postseason in 2025.

Former MLB shortstop AJ Pierzynski named two players the Orioles should target this offseason.

“If I’m an Orioles fan, I want two starters. I want Max Fried and Garrett Crochet,” Pierzynski said, via Foul Territory .

Pierzynski notes that the Orioles have a solid lineup of position players, but their starting rotation could use some help.

Fried made his major league debut in 2017 and has spent all eight seasons of his career with the Atlanta Braves.

In 2024, he started 29 games with an 11-10 record and a 3.25 ERA with 166 strikeouts in 174.1 innings.

Chicago White Sox ace Crotchett is the other player listed, and the Orioles would have to trade some of their prospects to get him.

With a terrible White Sox team in 2024, Crotchet started 32 games and posted a 6-12 record with a 3.58 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 146.0 innings.

The Orioles could lose starting pitcher Corbin Burns to free agency this offseason, and even if he re-signs, they’ll still need some help in their rotation if they want to make the postseason in 2025.
