22-year-old Alcaraz broke the news of social, saying he would have to take some time to let his survey recover.
“I am very disappointed to announce that I will not be able to play Rolex Shanghai masters this year,” he wrote on Instagram. “Unfortunately, I have been fighting with some physical issues and, after discussing with my team, we believe the best decision is to rest and heal.”
Alcaraz, now 67-7 a season, is the sixth man who won eight titles in a season in this century.
He has 24 titles, and ranks ninth on the list of all time for the titles earned before he turns 23 years old. The Spaniard will turn 23 years old on May 5 next year. With his triumph in Tokyo, Alcaraz linked Alexander Zverev to most titles from a 1990 -born player – Alcaraz was born in 2003.
