The CSBK Scholarship was awarded to Martina Cardenas of Maple Ridge, British Columbia
As the exciting third year of the FIM Mini GP Canada Series presented by Motul and Pirelli draws to a close, motorsport fans will be buzzing with excitement. This year, the series promises exciting competitive action but also celebrates the achievements of young talent in the sport.
Tony Sharpless, the organizer for the Canadian series, noted a significant increase in interest in the series this year. “This ups and downs can be attributed to the maturity of the event, we are now in our third year. It is important to realize that building momentum in such initiatives takes time and a lot of effort. We are grateful to our supporters, including those who provided bikes for the Super Sonic School Scholarship Program, for helping us along the way.
Continuing their support of the FIM MiniGP Canada Series and the Super Sonic School, the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK) awarded their scholarship bikes to 10 talented teenager Martina Cardenas from Maple Ridge, British Columbia. This recognition shows his commitment to developing the next generation of riders, and Martina’s journey is sure to inspire many as the series prepares for an exciting season ahead.
“We are very excited about the growth of mini-racing in Canada. CSBK is delighted to have Martina riding a CSBK-sponsored bike this year. Her incredible achievements truly reflect the dedication and passion we look for in our athletes. Thanks to the initiative of Toni Sharpless and her team, we have developed a strong framework to nurture young talents like Martina.” Bridgestone CSBK National Series Executive Director Ross Milson said: “We are committed to continuing the CSBK Scholarship Program at the FIM MiniGP Canada Series.
Martina’s love and passion for competition was evident in her application and her father, Luis Cardena, was delighted that his daughter was chosen. “Martina is thrilled to learn that she has been awarded a CSBK scholarship bike to compete in the FIM MiniGP Canada series! She has been training almost every day, even in bad weather, to improve her skills. I believe my daughter will be ready for the challenge in 2025.”
Martina is now in contention to join the list of young athletes who have gone to the FIM MiniGP World Finals, a collaboration project between Ovale, Dorna and FM to represent Canada. So far, Canada has sent a total of four Canadians, twice a year to the World Finals in Spain: Michael Gavis, Lincoln Scott, Ben Hardwick and Jaeger Stockhill. Our best finish to date was P15 in November 2025 at Motherland Aragon in Alberta during a combined practice session with 44 other riders from 22 countries.
There are two more scholarship bikes available and applicants can use this opportunity to demonstrate their skills and passion for racing. Interested participants are encouraged to submit their applications (see below).
