The Crawford sequence: Tim Bradley believes Shakur Stevenson is the next king of boxing

Tim Bradley says he believes that Shakur Stevenson is the man who will walk in Terence Crawford’s shoes to sit on the throne as the next biggest fighters.

Is Shakur the right choice?

Bradley does not say why he thinks that WBC lightweight champion Shakur (24-0, 11 COs) will be the next star, as he showed no signs of the kind of fighter on July 12 in his last match against William Zepeda. He covered a lot of punishment on the ropes, and occasionally threw a very hard hit to the body.

Former three divisions world champion Stevenson has not rumored enough to be the fighter who replaces Crawford. He can’t hit, and his most important method of winning is to hit and run.

Can a runner -up of a goat?

Shakur has a reputation to make a boring fighter and tend to run if they face opposition with punching power. Runners do not become goats, and it takes a lot of careful matchmaking for Shakur to navigate into all the talented fighters who would beat him at 135.

While winning three divisional titles, his opposition was less than the best. He is like another Adrien Broner with how he slipped through weight classes and beat vulnerable fighters to conquer titles. It is very superficial.

The true tests for Shakur

  1. Andy cruz
  2. Floyd Schofield
  3. Abdullah Mason
  4. Raymond Muratalla
  5. Herrera Cores
  6. Sam noakes

The unproven heir of Crawford

“Who’s next to take over the throne when Crawford retires? I got an idea. His name is Shakur Stevenson. You heard it here first. Believe me or don’t believe me. Shakur Stevenson is going to be the next Bok (the largest of all time) on the throne, ‘says Tim Bradley on his channelChoose the unproven, carefully matching Shakur Stevenson as the man walking in Terence Crawford’s shoes.

Bradley’s choice of Shakur to replace Crawford, because the so -called “goat” is unrealistic, given how careful he was since he moved up to 135 in 2023. To be seen as a star, a fighter must fight against the best guys in their weight class. Stevenson didn’t.

In Shakur’s two years since he moved to lightweight, this is the limited opposition he faced:

  • William Zepeda
  • Josh Padley
  • Artem Harutyunyan
  • Edwin de Los Santos
  • Shuichiro Yoshino
