The 2024 Premier League schedule came to a fitting conclusion with defeat to Manchester United at home on Monday night.
The year had opened with Newcastle losing to Liverpool on New Year’s Day amid a regressive campaign for the Magpies, but Eddie Howe’s side are on the rise once again and their convincing triumph over the Red Devils represented their resurgence.
Only a few teams can say 2024 was a complete success, with most struggling for consistency throughout the year. Even Manchester City, who clinched their fourth consecutive league title in May, have faltered dramatically in 2024/25 and have a fight on their hands to secure a top-four finish.
As you know, there are no trophies for calendar year success, but it is nevertheless intriguing to evaluate the most successful outfits between January 1st and December 31st. Team fortunes can change dramatically per season.
Here’s the full one Premier League table for 2024.

Arsenal held on for another second-place finish in 2023/24, but finished the year as the Premier League’s most productive team. Mikel Arteta’s team has collected 85 points in 36 games and lost only three times.
They also conceded the fewest goals (25) during the calendar year.
His points tally was tied for the current league leaders Liverpoolwho played one more game. The Reds stumbled last season when Jurgen Klopp was fired, but Arne Slot has built on the solid foundations left by the German and helped Liverpool re-emerge as the division’s dominant force. No team in the Premier League scored more goals than the Merseysiders (92).
Manchester City They enjoyed a 23-match unbeaten run and won nine in a row to lift another title in 2024, but a woeful run to end the year means City sit third in the annual table with 82 points. They would certainly have finished 2024 on top had they not endured such a woeful run between early November and Boxing Day. However, they are much better than Chelsea, who are in fourth place with 70 points.
curiously Mauricio Pochettino helped Chelsea more points in his last 19 games in charge (38) than Enzo Maresca in his first 19 (35).
Bournemouth and Fulham are among the surprise packages in the top half of the 2024 table, with Tottenham and Manchester United enduring equally disappointing years. Ange Postecoglou has guided Spurs to their lowest point in a calendar year since 2009, with only Brentford and Wolves suffering more defeats.
Everton were the under-performing team among the teams that stayed in the top flight all year. The Toffees escaped relegation relatively comfortably last season and currently have a decent cushion from the relegation zone, but they registered 31 points from 36 games in 2024 and won just eight games.
Southampton took up the desperate mantle from Sheffield United after returning to the Premier League via the play-offs. Saints and Blades combined for 13 points and two wins in 2024. Sheffield Utd, who are looking strong again in the second tier, conceded a whopping 55 goals in just 18 games (3,056 per game). Southampton scored 12 goals in 19 games.
