The St. Louis Cardinals missed the postseason for the second straight time in 2024, finishing 83-79.
For an organization accustomed to winning, with 11 World Series titles in franchise history, the latest struggle may be hard for fans to take.
The Cardinals appear to be embarking on a rebuild, and one All-Star could be on the trade block.
According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Cardinals are expected to be interested in third baseman Nolan Arenado.

Arenado joined the Cardinals in 2021 after entering the league in 2013 and playing eight seasons with the Colorado Rockies.
The eight-time All-Star had another solid season with the Cardinals in 2024, when he batted .272 with 16 home runs, 71 RBIs and a .719 OPS.
After missing the postseason the past two years and falling out of the wild-card round last season, the Cardinals need a turnaround.
The Cardinals haven’t won a World Series since 2011.
Arenado could be a big part of the organization’s rebuilding plan if they trade him for assets this offseason.
In 2024, he saw a dip in his power production, as his 16 home runs in 152 games were his fewest since the strike-shortened 2020 season, when he hit eight home runs in 48 games for Colorado.
There will likely be interest in the 33-year-old, and it will be interesting to see what the Cardinals might want in return.
