When Scottie Scheffler won Championship On Sunday, he became the second player in 40 years to win at least six tournaments in many seasons, joining – you thought – Tiger Woods.
World no. 1 has been unstoppable. In recent years he has accumulated wins and tuning. “The type of desire scottie was not here,” joked Lanto Griffin on Sunday after finishing two strokes after Scheffler in Napa.
But quite surprisingly, Scheffler’s greatest strength may not be his physical gifts.
Golf Channel’s Johnson Wagner joined this week’s episode of Podcast Subpar of Golf To discuss his TV concert and Ryder Cup next week at Bethpage Black. But because of Scheffler by adding another victory to his resume, he also became a topic.
“Dude works more than anyone, he is more competitive than anyone, he looks more home -based and happy with his life at home than anyone,” Wagner said. “When I won the PGA Tour events, I would celebrate quite hard and maybe I wouldn’t have a few good weeks, except that maybe once. Scottie puts the victory in the back mirror right away. He just wants to go out and whatever the next week he will play, he starts to try and win it.
“I think his physical abilities are definitely higher than anyone now, but his mind is years of light in front of anyone.”
And the scary part? It can simply get better.
“I think we’re just on top of the iceberg when it comes to scottie’s predominance,” Wagner said. “I just don’t see it going somewhere for at least the next six or seven years.”
Wagner, however, said there may be a way to stop Scheffler, making his fun December injury This removed it from some tours.
“I think trying him try to make a kind of ravioli cooking clinic would be the only way you can slow down,” he said.
