Terence Crawford’s run-oriented victory over a falling four-belt super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez last Saturday night was not good enough to prove to fans that he belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Box on the wonderful list he is talking about.
Benavidez is the real test
Crawford must defeat David benavidez for him to show that he deserves to be considered a true great. Is it too much to ask for? There is no difference in size between Crawford and benavidez other than an inch in height for the 6’2 ″ ‘Mexican sample’. Both reached an identical 74 1/2 ″.
We saw Crawford beat a faded Canelo to collect all four belts at the same time to be undisputed at 168, and we saw him do the same by the 2019 accident version of Errol Spence, and captured three belts to achieve the performance at 147.
Can David Benavidez earn another 168 pounds? 🤔

Alvarez and Spence were both faded when Crawford fought them. Accidental fans would not know it, or the not -forming hardcore box fans who do not bother to investigate the physical condition of Bud’s opponents. What we want to see now is whether Crawford can beat a fighter in the first place of his career in David Banavidez (30-0, 24 COs).
Turki Alalshikh must forget about money in a re -broadcast between Canelo and Crawford. Instead of doing so, he should focus on setting up a fight between Crawford and Banavidez.
The Alalshikh mandate
Predictably, Terence will refuse to fight benavidez if offered to him by Turki. But if this is the only option given to him in a Take-it-or-Fle-It Way, he would have no choice. If Turki tells Crawford that that’s all he has for him after his last two less-than-en-entertaining battles against Alvarez and Israil Madrimov, he will have to accept or retire.
We must prove that Terence can beat a real young peak fighter. We have seen that he can beat faded fighters. I want to see if Crawford can beat a talent in the peak of his career to show that he is not a calculated fighter who carefully chooses his opponents on their most vulnerable state in their careers.
Terence only showed a great interest in the fight against Spence after his car accident in 2019. He first started fighting for a fight against Canelo to his back-to-back impressive performances in 2024 against Jaime Munguia and Edgar Berlanga.
A run to victory
Crawford’s victory over Canelo ran too much to consider him worthy of being placed on the wonderful list of all time. In addition to the reality that Canelo is no longer in his lead and looks like a shell of his former self, Crawford’s movement was the opposite of how the big fighters of all time fight.
A manufactured career?
Term that puts on the wonderful list of all time prematurely Tarern it Because his resume is too weak, and there is the perception of many fans who are his career Just a scam. In other words, they believe that Crawford is artificially manufactured to look better than he is through a combination of cunning, calculated matchmaking, and his weight manipulation of fighting far below its actual size of 170+ pounds.
